Welcome to Mother Natures Copilot

Hello, my name is Leigh Smythe and I have been involved in the gardening world for almost 30 years.  I ran a garden centre in Southern Alberta as well as hosted a live phone-in radio show and wrote a Q and A column for the local newspaper.  Mid-week the paper would run a teaser for the readers that said "watch for Mother Nature's Copilot tips on Saturdays".  The nickname stuck and for the most part it was great, until the gardening weather was lousy and then I would get blamed for M. Nature's lack of cooperation.  I have retired from running the business but still have a great love of gardening so I have now formed my company 'Mother Nature's Copilot'. I will strive to continue to provide timely, helpful tips that are earth friendly and answer the daily questions and challenges that face gardeners.  If you are new to having your own garden and landscape, I hope to inspire you get out and get your hands in the dirt and discover the incredible satisfaction you can experience growing your own food, beautiful flowers and trees and shrubs.  Mother Nature's gifts cause me daily joy and awe and I hope that you will share that with me too as I venture into this new phase of my life.
